SmartCopy, originally FastCopy started 4 months ago with only few
stats and no parameters. Then came bargraphs, copy speed, time remaining
and all parameters. Let's take a look at the copy screen. Speed and
remaining time are printed in the upperleft window, time is expressed in
seconds, speed is expressed is K/Bytes per second. The top-center window
tells tou when scopy analyses, reads source, write target or refreshes
screen. OverWrite and NewFile tells you is Scopy is overwriting and old
file or creating new file. You will be prompted before overwriting old
files if you did't use /O option. Volume number is when multiple target
disks are used, Scopy tells you the number of the disk. Bytes to Copy,
Files to copy, Bytes copied and bytes copied are infos that changes
constently during copy. Now copying and file size are infos about the
current file beeing copied. Bytes left on target and bytes used tells you
how much K/Bytes are avalable on target (this will decrease during copy).
K/Bytes used is how much K/Bytes were taken from target. When overwriting
files, is't possible that the K/Bytes used drops below 0. File progress
represents graphically how much of the current file has been copied. Batch
progress represents how much of the TOTAL batch has been copied. The two
bottom windows tells you the Source and Target path. When source window is
empty, this means Scopy is reading from the CURRENT directory.
Let's take a look at those parameters :
/O -> Use this parameter when you don't want Scopy to ask before
overwriting and old file
/A -> Is used when you want to copy Hidden or System files
/S -> Use this option then source and target drives is the same drive.
Scopy will first copy to C:\Scopy.SWP directory and then will
copy to target disk. You will be prompted when disk changing is
required.
/T -> The TAG option was the toughest to make. With this option, you
can TAG files to copy. Note that Source AND target directory
are required. Let's say that you want to copy some files in
the C:\dos directory to C:\Newdos directory, the command line
should look like this :
Scopy C:\Dos\*.* C:\NewDos /T
Scopy will bring you all files (because you entered *.*). You
can, using Up/Dn arrows TAG files with the SpaceBar. Press
CTRL-T to TAG ALL files, CTRL-U will UnTAG ALL files. When all
desired files are tagged, hit RETURN to start copy.
Well, that's about it ... If you like this program, please register-it
